VERA Galactic Plane Survey

In 2007 two 12 hours VLBI observing sessions were made with VERA array plus KASHIM34 station. The goal of these observations was to evaluate the feasibility to determine positions of calibrator sources using the VERA array itself.

In total, 147 sources, including calibrators were observed. Among them were sources from the KQ VLBA survey and from K-band VERA fringe search survey.

Current status

Observations were put on hold for a long time because of lack of software that could analyze the data. The problem was solved in winter 2012. Prelimiary results are encouraging. However, more tests with geodetic data are necessary in order to be sure no systematic errors are introduced. Waiting for avilability of geodesy VLBI data from Mitaka correlator.
