VLBA observations of deep southern sources
Dear colleagues,
I put in the schedule of astrometric/geodetic VLBA
experiment rdv67 12 new southern sources with declinations [-20, -53] degrees
for a proof of a concept that VLBA ia able to effectively determine positions
of deep southern sources. The new sources were from Preston and AT20G lists.
Please find results attached. Only one of 12 new sources was not detected.
We have succeeded to derive coordinate of sources with declinations
[-53, -50] with formal uncertainties 2-5 mas. Although VLBA can successfuly
observe sources as low as -53 deg, the practical limit is around -51.
