Rational

At the first hour of 2013 a highly variable source 122222-311525 at Ra=12:22:21.63 Dec=-31:15:24.9 was discovered: Atel #4699, Atel #4700, Atel #4708, Atel #4716. It became 7 orders of magnitude brighter than it was in 2005--2012. Ashish Mahabal suggested to try to detect such an unusual object in radio. Phil Edwards observed it for 1.5 hours with ATCA.

A field around variable source 1219-309 (aka J1222-3115, SSS130101, 122222-311525 ) was observed with ATCA at [2013.01.07_18:12, 2013.01.07_19:40] UTC at [4.5, 6.5] and [8.0, 10.0] GHZ frequency bands. The array was in EW352 configuration.

Source #3 is the closest object to 122222-311525: it is 6.0" off in right ascension and 28" off in declination. It was detected at both bands. It has flux density 0.31 mJy at 5.5 GHz and spectral index -0.79.

A field around variable source 1219-309 (aka J1222-3115, SSS130101, 122222-311525 ) was observed with ATCA at 2013.01.17_12:25 and 2013.01.17_21:05 UTC at [4.5, 6.5] and [8.0, 10.0] GHZ frequency bands in two scans 40 minutes long separated by 7.5 hours. The array was in EW352 configuration.

The closes source to 122222-311525, #3, is in 32.4". The formal uncertainties, 0.6" and 0.9" are a bit too optimistic. More realistic uncertainties will be 1.5-2". But source #3 lies 15-20σ away from source 122222-311525. This is definitely another source.

Summary

A field around 122222-311525 (aka, J1222-3115, 1219-309, SSS130101 ) was observed with ATCA on 2013.01.07 and 2013.01.17 at two 2 GHz subbands: [4.5, 6.5] and [8.0, 10.0] GHz. Image rms is 0.03 mJy at 5.5 GHz and 0.02 mJy at 9.0 GHz.

No source brighter 150 μJy was detected at 5.5 and 9.0 GHz (5σ level) in the vicinity of 122222-311525
