Multiple phase cal tones in experiment c1014 ($01JUL09XA)
Introduction
Experiment c1014 ($01JUL09XA) was observed with channel frequency band
8 MHz channel. Correlator extracted phase cal at frequencies 10KHz
and 4010 KHz at X-band and 10KHz, 6010 KHz at S-band. It was fringed three
times,
- Normal fringing with phase cal at frequencies 4010 KHz at X-band
and 6010 KHz at S-band.
- with using phase cal at 10KHz and X and S band
(Exception: 6010 KHz tone at GILCREEK at S-band was used in all
solutions).
- the same as the previous, but in addition 2 LSB channels were dropped.
As a result only 14 USB channels remained as in Mark-3 epoch.
Three databases were created.
Comparison of solutions
-
Listing of normal solution s1
Listing of solution with 10KHz phase cal and 16 channels
s2
-
Listing of normal solution s3
Listing of solution with 10KHz phase cal and 14 channels
s4
NB: only comparison of solutions s1/s2 and s3/s4 is legitimate.
Conclusions
- The differences in solutions with using 6010/4010 phase cal
versus solutions with 10KHz phase cal is very small, but
solution with 6010/4010 KHz phase cal is slightly better.
- The differences in solutions with 16 channels versus solution with
14 channels is noticeable. 16 channel solution is better.
- LSB channels affects different station differently. MATERA had the
greatest improvement, WESTFORD had much less improvement.
- Addiing two additional LSB channels can result in changes in
vertical site position at the 6 mm level.
