Results of the first geodetic VLBI experiment with SARDINIA station

On 2016.06.15 64 m radiotelescope SARDINIA participated in the K-band geodetic experiment EL054 for 24 hours.

Uncertainties in SARDINIA position on 2016.06.15 are 20 mm for the vertical component and 2 mm for the horizontal component.

Other results of EL054 experiment

In addition to SARDINIA, JODRELL2 and TORUN participated, as well as BADARY, NOTO, and YEBES40M. Five other stations: TAMNA, ULSAN, YONSEI, URUMQI, and ONSALA60 failed. Combining C-band EVN experiment on 2000.11.23 (PI: Patric Charlot), EP066 experiment (EVN Galactic Plane Survey) on 2009.10.27, and EL054 on 2016.06.15, we have three epochs of TORUN and JODRELL2 for 16 years. This allowed to derive velocities of TORUN and JODRELL2 stations.

Positions of JODRELL2 and TORUN on epochs 2000.0 and their velocities:

    JODRELL2 3822846.621 -153802.032 5086286.107 m
    TORUN 3638558.490 1221969.797 5077036.782 m
    JODRELL2 -12.9 -+ 1.1 19.1 -+ 0.5 9.4 -+ 1.5 mm/yr
    TORUN -18.9 -+ 1.4 15.3 -+ 0.8 6.0 -+ 2.1 mm/yr

List of failures in EL054 experiment:

Geodetic solution EL054 used 3128 K-band group delays spanned within 368 MHz (112 MHZ for baselines with TORUN), and wrms of postfit residuals is 39.4 ps.

Listing of the global solution with EL054 experiment is available here. The single least square solution contained all geodetic VLBI observations, except VLBA and the majority astrometry survey experiments, from April 1980 through December 2016. It included EVN geodesy experiment of 2000.11.23, EVN Galactic plane Survey and EL054. The ionospheric contribution was computing using total electron content maps provided by Center for Orbit Determination in Europe (CODE). No-net rotation, no-net translations with respect to the ITF2000 station position catalogue for 38 stations were applied to estimates of station positions and velocities.

The full correlator output of the EL054 experiment is available here.
