Description of DiaGI commands. °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° 1) Change plotting boundaries using mouse. The command is bound with mouse middle button. Synonym: "D" To change plotting boundary user should position cursor near the plotting boundary which he is going to change and then click middle mouse button. Moving vertical or horizontal line will appear. If user is going to shrink plotting area it is sufficient to position the moving line to the desirable place and then click middle or left mouse button. If user is going to enlarge plotting boundary or to specify the value of the boundary directly he should position the moving boundary out of the plotting area and then to click middle or left mouse button. Old value of the boundary will be displayed and the prompt will appear: "Enter new boundary". Value of new boundary should be entered using keyboard. Clicking right mouse button cancels the operation of setting new plotting boundary. RESTRICTION: Plotting boundary cannot be set up closer than 10^-4 part of the maximal value of the boundaries. For example, if the left vertical boundary has value 87 then the right vertical boundary should be no less than 87.0087 (87 + 10**-4*87). 2) Get information about the point of the current colour to be nearest to the cursor. The command is bound with mouse left button. Synonym: "A" After hitting left mouse button DiaGI will find the point to be nearest to the cursor position among displayed point of the current main colour. Message like "CLR=r, POINT: k(m)[n], X=a Y=b E=c" will appear at the bottom of the graphic window, where r -- current main colour, k -- index of the point to be targeted, m -- total number of points of the current colour, n -- the number of displayed points of the current colour; a and b -- coordinates of the point, c -- its error. 3) Change plotting boundaries automatically to include all points of all functions leaving small fields. The command is bound with key "M". 4) Change title. The command is bound with key "T". DiaGI will request to enter using keyboard at graphic window new title of the plot. Key CNTRL/C aborts the insertion of new text and leaves old title unchanged. 5) Change a label "argument units". The command is bound with key "U". DiaGI will request to enter using keyboard at graphic window new units of the argument. Key CNTRL/C aborts the insertion of new text and leaves old arguments units unchanged. 6) Change main function (or current color) when more than one function is displayed. The command is bound with key "C". Command will be ignored if only one function was plotted by DiaGI. Set of pictograms, displaying colours used for representation of the plotted functions is displayed. To choose new main colour user should either position cursor in the rectangular with desirable colour and then click left or middle mouse button or hit the key with number (but in the range [1,9] only) of the desired colour. Hitting right mouse button aborts the operation and leaves main colour unchanged. Choice of the main colour doesn't affect the plot itself but points to the commands "change point style", "change line style", "change line width", "change error bar style" representation of which function they should change. 7) Change point style for the current colour. The command is bound with key "P". Set of pictograms, displaying possible point styles will be shown. Rectangular with the current point style will be filled by deeply grey colour. To choose new point style user should either position cursor in the rectangular with desirable point style and then click left or middle mouse button or hit the key with number of the desired point style. Hitting right mouse button aborts the operation and leaves the current point style unchanged. The following point styles are available: 1 -- small dots (1 pixel); 2 -- small outlined circles; 3 -- large outlined circles; 4 -- small filled circles; 5 -- large filled circles. 8) Change line style for the current colour. The command is bound with key "L". Set of pictograms, displaying possible line styles will be shown. Rectangular with the current line style will be filled by deeply grey colour. To choose new line style user should either position cursor in the rectangular with desirable line style and then click left or middle mouse button or hit the key with number of the desired line style. Hitting right mouse button aborts the operation and leaves the current line style unchanged. The following line styles are available: 1 -- point-by-point; 2 -- linear interpolation. Points are connected by pieces of straight line. 3 -- cubic spline interpolation. 9) Change line width for the current colour. The command is bound with key "W". Set of pictograms, displaying possible line width styles will be shown. Rectangular with the current line width style will be filled by deeply grey colour. To choose new line width style user should either position cursor in the rectangular with desirable line width style and then click left or middle mouse button or hit the key with number of the desired line width style. Hitting right mouse button aborts the operation and leaves the current line width style unchanged. The following line width styles are available: 1 -- thin line (1 pixel). 2 -- medium line. 3 -- thick line. 10) Change error bar representation style for the current colour. The command is bound with key "B". The command is ignored if the errors for the current main function (main colour) have not been specified. Set of pictograms, displaying possible error bars styles will be shown. Rectangular with the current error bar style will be filled by deeply grey colour. To choose new error bar style user should either position cursor in the rectangular with desirable error bar style and then click left or middle mouse button or hit the key with number of the desired error bar style. Hitting right mouse button aborts the operation and leaves the current error bar style unchanged. The following error bar styles are available: 0 -- no error bars; 1 -- sticks with terminators; 2 -- sticks without terminators; 3 -- outlined region - and + errors; 4 -- region - and + errors filled by shadow colour. 11) Change overplot mode. The ocmmand is bound with key "O". In overplot mode 1, DiaGI will put the points beyond the plotting area to the place several pixels beyond the frame. In overplot mode 0, DiaGI will not show such points at all. 12) Make graphic output in GIF or PostScript format, to write it on disk and to send it at the printer if necessary. The command is bound with key. Hard copy of the plot may be obtained in two formats: landscape and portrait. It is assumed that sheet of paper has format 210x297mm. In landscape format the axis box has size 140x221mm and the following fields will be left: 30mm left, 30mm top, 25mm right, and 25 mm down. In portrait format the axis box has size 141x90mm and the following fields will be left: 30mm left, 165mm top, 30mm right, and 25 mm down. Plot may be done in different printing modes and different sizes. Plot can be 1) written in file .ps in PostScript format 2) written in file .ps in PostScript format and then sent to printer. But it will happen only if the environment variable DIAGI_PRICOM specifies the command for printing PostScript files. 3) written in file .gif in GIF format. Picture in gif-formate may be modified and transformed to another graphic formats by powerful package XV ( http://www.sun.com/software/catlink/xv/xv.html ) is defined by the following way: 1) if the field NAME in DIAGI_S is empty or user used a simplified interface to DiaGI then = "/tmp/diagi" 2) if the field NAME in DIAGI_S is not empty then = DIAGI_S.NAME A set of pictograms, displaying possible hard copy modes will be shown. To choose desirable hard copy mode user should either position cursor in the rectangular with mode and then click left or middle mouse button or hit the key with number of the desired mode. Hitting right mouse button aborts the operation. 13) View plotting values. Hitting V displays in MATView mode the tables of arguments, values and errors (if specified) of the current colour at the text window from which DiaGI was activated. The first column of the output is the arguments list, the second is the list of corresponding values and the third is the lists of errors of the function to be plotted (if specified). The second table is written in file /tmp/diagi.tab . That ASCII table contains 3 columns: argument, value, error for the function specified by the current color. 0 fill be in the third columns if no error were used. Graphic window is activated after termination of MATView and user can continue view the plot. 14) Return to initial plotting parameters. The command is bound with key "I". Plotting parameters which you had when you saw the plot at the beginning of DiaGI work will be set. It is useful when you "lost" the points 15) Redraw the plot. The command is bound with "R". 16) Get help information. The command is bound with key "?". Synonym: "H". Brief help information will be drawn at the graphic window. Having entered 1 or 2 user can get more verbose information. To scroll the test down user should either position cursor at the box "Down" and then click either mouse button or click middle mouse button when cursor points at the text. To scroll the test down user should either position cursor at the box "Up" and then click either mouse button or click left mouse button when cursor points at the text. To come back to the plot user should click right mouse button or enter any key at the keyboard when cursor points at the text. 17) Save the plot in the intermediary file. This command is bound with key "S". DiaGI plots is written to the file /tmp/diagi.sav . This file then may be read and plot will be drawn again. There is a program diagi_rst in distribution kit which reads file name with saved plot and draws it on the screen. 18) Terminate displaying graphic and to pass control to the calling routine. This command is bound with double click of right button of mouse. Synonym: "E", "Q". Graphic window become inactive (cursor takes shape of skull and bones).
