Singularity check 07/09/98 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Singularity check provides the mechanism which allows to detect possible singularity of normal matrix due to wrong parameterization. Parameterization is checked after creation of normal matrix. 3 tests are made: 1) Does the number of USED in estimation observations of either source exceed the specified limit (SNGCHK_SOUMIN) if source dependent parameters for this source are estimated. If SNGCHK_SOUMIN is zero then the test is not carried out. 2) Does the number of USED in estimation observations of either station exceed the specified limit (SNGCHK_STAMIN). If SNGCHK_STAMIN is zero then the test is not carried out. 3) Does the number of USED in estimation observations of the baseline exceed the specified limit (SNGCHK_BASMIN) if baseline-dependent parameters such as baseline-dependent clocks are estimated for this baseline. If SNGCHK_BASMIN is zero then the test is not carried out. If at least one of these criterion is true the test considered as failed. One of the actions will be done if the test is failed: None -- Nothing Warning -- Error message is issued to screen, in spool-file and in error-file. The messages contains the reason of failure and names of the sources, stations, baselines caused the problem. Execution continues after issuing error message. Reparameterization -- Error message is issued to screen, in spool-file and in error-file. The messages contains the reason of failure and names of the sources, stations, baselines caused the problem. Then estimation model is changed. If the number of observations of some source(s) whose coordinates are estimated appears less than the specified limit, then flags "estimate right ascension and declination" of this source are lifted. If the number of observations of some station(s) or baseline(s) appears less than the specified limit, then these baselines are deselected from the solution. Then the number and the place of the parameters to be estimated is recomputed and normal matrix is calculated anew. Stop -- Execution will be terminated. Skip -- is equivalent to "Stop" in interactive mode. The database will be skipped from both forward and backward run if the test is done in B1B3D mode when global parameters were estimated. Singularity check is set up in $SETUP section of the control file when SOLVE run in batch mode. Singularity check is set up from the last page of OPTIN, from ELIM or PAMB when SOLVE is run in interactive mode. Initial values of the global variables SNGCHK_ACTION, SNGCHK_SOUMIN, SNGCHK_STAMIN, SNGCHK_BASMIN are set in according with system-wide defaults and environment variables with the same names when new database is read in interactive SOLVE. RESTRICTIONS: SNGCHK_ACTION REPARAMETERIZE is compatible only with FAST_MODE B1B3D when global solution is requested.
