NASA Goddard Space Flight Center baseline VLBI solution
bas_2024d provides estimates of baseline lengths from processing
all publicly accessible Very Long Baseline Interferometry
(VLBI) group delays derived from processing all available geodetic
VLBI observations since
1980.04.11
through
2024.12.03
,
in total,
19,535,536
group delays
from
7995
experiments. This resources provides results from two solutions: total and
residual.
In the total solution the total baseline lengths and their
uncertainties are provided without solving for neither station linear
velocity, no for the non-liner motion. These baseline lengths are a measure
of relative motion of one station with respect to another. Baseline lengths
are invariant with respect to a group of rotations and translations, and
therefore, unlike to station positions are determined uniquely from
observations.
In the residual solution the residual baseline lengths and their
uncertainties are provided after applying the empirical station motion
derived in the global VLBI solution gsf_2024d
in a form of a sum of station linear velocity, harmonic site position variations
and non-linear motion in a form of an expansion over the B-spline basis.
Methods of data analysis are described in full detail in Petrov & Kovalev, "The Radio Fundamental Catalog", 2025, The Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 276:38 (51pp), doi: 10.3847/1538-4365/ad8c36.
Lengths of 2705 baselines were estimated for each baseline separately.
